What is Smart Heating?

Smart Heating gives you the ability to control your central heating system from an app on your phone, tablet or other internet connected device as well as your home thermostat.

Most Smart Heating systems are made up of:

  • A receiver – This is wired up to your boiler and connects your boiler to the internet.
  • A hub – This plugs into your broadband router and connects to the receiver on your boiler.
  • A smart thermostat – This replaces your traditional thermostat and allows you to control and customise your heating remotely from your smartphone, tablet or computer.

Additional components can then be added to the system to give you greater control, these include:

  • Thermostatic Radiator Valves – These detect the temperature of a room, once the desired temperature is reached the valve shuts off flow preventing the room from becoming warmer and wasting heat and energy.
  • Additional Thermostats – These allow you to create zones within your home or business which can be heated separately to each other.
  • Choose when to heat up your water – Only applicable if you have a separate hot water tank.
  • Optional Voice Control Heating – By connecting with other smart devices such as Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant you can control your heating from your sofa!

F.A.Q: Is Smart Heating Compatible with Underfloor Heating Systems?
Yes, it is.

What are the Benefits of Smart Heating?

There are multiple benefits to upgrading your system to Smart Home Heating System, these include:

  • Saves Energy and Money – Some Smart Heating Systems have reported an energy saving of up to 31%. For a typical 4 Bedroom home which costs £1,647 a year to heat, this is a cost saving of £510.57.
  • Control your heating remotely – Control your heating from your phone whilst you are out and about. This includes turning your system on or off, changing individual room temperatures, or changing your heating schedule if you’re not going to be home.
  • Weather Response – Many Smart thermostats come with a weather response function; they’ll monitor the weather and automatically adjust your boiler temperature to suit, this means a warmer home in cold weather and a cooler one in hot weather.
